Dream Come TrueWade Phelps
Name: Courtney O’Buckley
Courtney’s dream of pursuing modeling finally came true this past year. After many years of wondering what it would feel like to walk down the runway and smile for the cameras, Courtney O’Buckley has joined the ranks of Shortstack models here in Queens.
“I was always a big tomboy; I wore braces and played soccer. [Modeling] has always been an interest; it’s always been in the back of my mind,” she said.
This being her first year in this business, Courtney quickly developed the notion of “having fun, while being professional.”
“It’s more of an experience for now; I don’t see it as being something more,” she said “I’m having fun, but I’m dabbling my feet in the water.”
Having just completed her first year at Queensborough Community College, Courtney is still on her feet a lot of the time; she works at Applebee’s and plays soccer constantly. In her free time, she can be found in Steinway with friends, playing guitar, singing, playing video games, or on Hillside Avenue with her mother and sisters.
“On Sundays, I’ll go out shopping with my mom, and then we’ll try to have dinner that night with my sisters,” she said. “It’s nice to spend time together.”
Showing love for Queens, she says “Certain areas are suburban, and other areas are more active. You get the best of both worlds!”
And advice for up and coming models?
“You don’t know what’s in front of you if you don’t look. Start trying new things and jump into it.”
